Markets came up a lot at home, in the ordinary way they do in a lot of Indian households. I picked things up in the wrong order and understood very little of it at the time, but some of it stayed.

So I studied computer science instead, which felt like the more useful thing to be good at. It turned out to be what made finance legible later. Finance was the problem I did not properly understand, and that is more or less the entire reason I went after it.

I like pulling a problem apart until I can see the core of it, then building the least glamorous version of the answer. Data that is honest about when it was known. Pricing written from scratch, slowly, because reading the paper is not the same as building the thing.

Most of what I make is for myself. A tracker for my own money, a signal platform I use to argue with my own assumptions, a board on the wall that tells me when the next train is. A second brain that never leaves the laptop. A job board for the roles I am actually looking at, because the real ones are scattered across forty career pages.

Then a long tail of small things nobody sees. Scrapers, a few dashboards, scripts that run on a schedule and email me when something moves. None of it is clever. It just saves me from doing the same thing twice.

Cricket. F1. Long runs that are really just an excuse to think about something else for two hours at a stretch.

And photography, black and white, shot mostly in the city I call home. It has nothing to do with any of the above, except that it asks the same thing of me. Look longer than feels comfortable, and notice what everyone else walks past.
